Ritual Wine Vessel and cover, you
Artist: Unknown
On display
These ritual wine vessels are very close in date, size and shape. Both have similar animal masks on the handles and body, and both feature the long-tailed bird motif which is a hallmark of early and mid-Western Zhou bronzes. The overall effect of the two is quite different, however. The large undecorated spaces on the first vessel would almost certainly have been highly polished to make the most of the bronze’s reflective qualities.
