Bell, bo
Artist: Unknown
On display
This bell dates from the golden age of Chinese bell manufacture. At this time bells were often made in tuned sets – the largest known set yet discovered contained 64 bells, though for bells of this type, sets of four to nine are most common. This bell had no clapper and would have been struck with a mallet. Unlike the other two bells here, these bells were also played with the mouth facing downwards.
