On Saturday 7 September we are hosting a wedding and so access to the ground floor galleries may be restricted in the afternoon, access to Louise Bourgeois: Nature Study will not be affected. On Sunday 8 September all visitors, including members, are required to have a Compton Verney Dining Club ticket.

Bear baiting was a popular town spectacle in Britain before it was banned in 1835. Afterwards, illegal bear baiting was sometimes held indoors by artificial light, which may be what is depicted here.
