The Magic Power
of the Needle:
A Louise Bourgeois inspired Textile Workshop

Thursday 3 – Friday 4 October 2024
Sold Out

Inspired by our exhibition Louise Bourgeois: Nature Study we’re hosting a textile workshop where you’ll learn how to make your own fabric web.

You’ll go on an exclusive tour of the exhibition where Curator Oli McCall will highlight Bourgeois’ textile artwork. Then, you’ll learn the fundamentals and apply the art of English paper piecing to create a web-style textile artwork plus how to display your work.

All the fabric in this workshop has been responsibly sourced from second hand shops, workshop leader Catherine-Marie’s own collection and Yodomo, a London based initiative that collects textile remnants from mills, designers and shops and sells them back to the public.

The image shows a man with brown/grey hair wearing an Adidas jacket and glasses, sitting on the grass and engaged with two young children. They are surrounded by toys, art supplies, and a red tent or canopy in the background. There are also other people sitting on blankets or the grass nearby, suggesting an outdoor gathering or event. The scene depicts an intergenerational interaction, play, and creativity in an outdoor, community setting.
