Compton Verney Fund
(CVF)
Compton Verney Fund is a charity (charity number 1134907) set up to hold a trust fund and use its income for the purposes of the preserving, maintaining and supporting Compton Verney for the benefit of the public.
Joanna Vazquez, Chair
Joanna graduated from Liverpool University with a degree in Economics. She worked as a buyer for the Littlewoods Organisation for 10 years before leaving to start a family.
She was a director of Delamere Homes in Cheshire for a number of years and has been trustee of the John Moores Painting Prize and member of the investment committee for the past 30 years. She chaired the Trust for five years before standing down to home-school her youngest through GCSEs and A levels.
Joanna was a trustee of the Peter Moores Foundation and Peter Moores Charitable Trust before the Trusts were wound up. She is a trustee of the Janatha Stubbs Foundation and governor of the Razzett Tal Hbiberija – a charity foundation for the physically and mentally disabled in Malta. In addition, she is founder of the Sunflowers Foundation and trustee of several other investment trusts.
Howard Jones
Howard Jones is Professor Finance at Oxford University and a Fellow of Keble College. His finance research includes institutional asset management and investment advice. Howard was a trustee of Compton Verney House Trust from 2016 to 2020 and has been a trustee of Compton Verney Fund since 2018.
Kirsten Suenson- Taylor
Kirsten was appointed to CVF in 2010 when the fund was set up by the Peter Moores Foundation. Kirsten is an accredited Archaeological Conservator with many years of experience of working with arts and heritage charities at board level, ensuring sound financial management and investment of funds for long-term sustainability. She also sits on the board of Compton Verney Collection Settlement.
Matthew Woods
Matthew Woods trained at, Withers, a leading City law firm, where he qualified as a private client lawyer in 2001.
He advises families on succession and governance issues with a focus on family-owned businesses and rural estates.
Philanthropy is an important part of many succession plans that Matthew is involved with for clients and he is a trustee for two other charities.
Many of Matthew’s clients own heritage property and art collections and this is an area of particular interest to him and helping preserve a heritage asset, whether through a charity or otherwise, is a rewarding experience.
Matthew sat on the management board of Withers for 6 years during which the importance of philanthropy and ESG issues as well as pro bono work has grown.
Philip Bunt
Philip is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales with over 40 years of experience in the UK and overseas in the accountancy profession and as a Chief Financial Officer or Chief Operating Officer in several businesses, charities and the public sector. He retired in 2023 from the role of Chief Operating Officer of UK Anti-Doping.
Philip has served as Vice-Chair of Governors of two schools where he also chaired the finance committees and was a trustee of the associated charities. He was Deputy Chair and Treasurer of the Campaign for Learning. Before being appointed at CVHC he was the honorary treasurer of an international development charity.
Philip is the Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. He is also a trustee of Compton Verney Fund and the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
