The coming of Storm Bert means that strong winds are forecast this weekend.

For the safety of all visitors, we’ll be closing areas of our grounds on Saturday and Sunday. The house and exhibitions remain fully open.

Self-Guided Orienteering

Enjoy the fresh air and make the most of our 120 acres of historic parkland on a self-guided orienteering visit. We have three maps created for different levels of orienteering; from beginners to a more challenging course for those with previous experience. We can provide the space for your group and the inspiration for your day while you bring your own equipment and lead your group.

All self-guided groups must book in advance.

Self-Guided Visits

Explore Compton Verney independently with a group or on your own with our self-guided visits that can be tailored to Key Stage 1 all the way up to Further Education. Bursting with inspiration from a diverse range of modern and historic artists and a refreshing programme of changing exhibitions throughout the year, there’s plenty to see and do that will fill your sketchbook and inspire your own creativity.

On a self-guided visit you can:

  • Use our learning spaces to deliver creative workshops that you can’t do in the classroom.

  • Log onto our free wi-fi

  • Use the Bloomberg Connects app for more ways to discover Compton Verney before you visit and once you arrive

  • Enjoy a picnic in the grounds or book an inside space for pack lunches

  • Chat to the front of house team about the exhibitions, artworks and any queries you might have during your visit

  • Use our resources to support and plan your day

Capacity varies, depending on your requirements. Get in touch with us to see how we can support your self-led visit. All groups must book advance with the learning team.
