Compton Verney were delighted to have been chosen as a partner in The National Gallery’s Masterpiece Tour for 2015, which brought one of the nation’s major artworks to your doorstep. Contrasting Canaletto’s splendid Regatta with Compton Verney’s own Posillipo with the Palazzo Donn’Anna c.1701 by Vanvitelli, which features Venetian-style gondolas crossing the Bay of Naples. This enabled visitors to compare the two artists’ views, approaches, techniques – and boats.
